Session 08 – Marcus Black

The flight back to New York was fast, too fast, before either Carter or I could gather our thoughts, we were landing.
Carter still in no state to compose himself left it to me to pay Jimmy and Ron, soon after we landed they departed, they seemed relatively unhindered by the course of events they took place during their employment with us.  They both seemed rather glad to be paid and rid of us, I cannot blame them.

25th November 1934

Carter and I remained on the plane, I thought it my duty to aid in his efforts to compose himself.  We organised Frank to talk to Janet, a conversation that ended with us meeting her tonight at the hanger where we had started this whole expedition.  Frank soon after left us to ourselves, until the meeting was to take place.
Carter turned to me several times in the hours that passed, his first words were that I was right, clearly shaken by having everything he had thought to be false in this world revealed to him in an horrific nature.  It took some hours before Carter was starting to look semi-himself again, by that time, Frank was summoning us to meet with Janet.

Janet was sitting in her usual seat in the library area of the hanger, the dimly lit bank lamps casting a warm glow across the space.  She motioned for Frank to gather beverages for us, she did not seem surprised at the state of Carter and myself, I can only imagine Frank had briefed her somewhat on our current condition.

Carter was the first to speak, his ramblings reflected my previous comments made regarding the occult, only his definitions were far cruder than I had mentioned.  I chimed into the conversation wherever possible, every time Carter seemed to slip in his words or lose his speech at a pure lack of understanding of what he had witnessed unfold I would interject with my best description of the accounts.
After several minutes of the two of us doing our best to describe the events that took place at the house of Samson Trammell, Janet withdrew to have a few moments with Frank.
Prior to her removal from our present company, Carter made several mentions to the fact that he was finished, he did not want to continue the investigation, something I found most troubling as I knew my work here was far from over.

Janet spent the next several minutes in conversation with Frank, constantly motioning her gaze and hands towards Carter and I, it was obvious to us that our explanation seemed somewhat farfetched to the ears of someone so far removed.

Janet returned to us with specific instructions.  We were to hand all the books we had collected to her, we were to meet with Frank in the morning to discuss further the information and our desire to either finish our work or continue on in the investigation.

26th November 1934

Frank collected us in the morning, we had retired for the night within the plane, our makeshift beds served us for yet another night.
We drove for some time through the familiar streets of New York and came to rest at the entrance of a large modern apartment building.  We made our way to the elevators within, Frank advising the attendant that we were on our way to the penthouse.
The elevator was lavish, everything about this building was new, everything clean and well presented, once out of the elevator, nothing was different, polished floors and high ceilings led us to a large set of heavy wooden double doors that Frank opened for us.
Inside the penthouse was all of our research laid out in neat piles around the walls of the main living area.  The room was sparsely furnished, as if the owner, who we could only assume was Janet, was in the process of moving in.
Janet entered the room from yet another large living space, she instructed us to sit, the large leather lounges still firm from the manufacturers tight bindings.  She sat across from us and began writing down and drawing the connections we had made so far in our research.  I did the same, connecting all parties and notes involved.

Summary.
August 13th 1924, of the conflict that took place at the scene of the barn, only three individuals can be accounted for as survivors.  Douglas Henslowe, Edgar Job and Walter Winston.
Of the occult worshippers under the instruction of Ramon Echiavarria were:
Samson Trammell, George Ayers, Edgar Job, Richard Spend, Olivia Clarendon and the Accountant Buchwald.
Of these followers we knew that Richard Spend was deceased at the scene, Trammell was in Los Angeles and George Ayers was in Africa.
Of these men, the three that seemed to be the most senior, Echiavarria, Trammell and Ayers.
Of these three, they all shared common yet distant beliefs.
Echiavarria believed he was serving Gol Goroth.
Trammell made mention that he was serving the ‘Black Man’ and speaking on behalf of Nyarlothotep.
Ayers also believed he was following the Mouth of the Maw.
After carefully examining the written evidence, it seemed clear now yet not at the time that the three men all seemed to be worshipping the same entity, being of different name and slightly different in manifestation, it was clear that we had missed this the first time we examined the evidence separately.
The description given to us by all accounts point very simply to this conclusion, The Liar from Beyond, The Prisoner of Glaaki, The Mouth of the Maw and the 1000 Mouths are all linked and therefore must all be the same entity revealing itself to each man as he is best equipped to understand it.

The notebook and journal of Samson Trammell, something we had only the chance to read briefly made a strong mention that he had followers in Mexico, so much so that they had made the strange record we had heard playing in his home.  Believing that it in some way enhanced the effects of the ‘Nectar’.

Trammell’s right hand man, Captain Walker, along with the Bankok based agent, Daniel Lowman, the man who had sent the telegrams to the hostile men in Savannah, both seemed to be running the day to day business dealings of the somewhat ‘uninvited’ members of this cabal.  They were responsible for the non-worship based activities we had been witnessing across Los Angeles and Savannah, as well as various other duties across the globe of a similar fashion.

Having drawn these conclusions, Janet offered Carter a thick envelope containing his final sum payable upon completing his end of the investigation.  I on the other hand had the desire to keep going.
After speaking frankly with Carter, having made these discoveries of men worshipping dark things and distributing something that could possible bring civilisation as we know it to ruin, he required little convincing to stay on.  I explained that having seen the things he has seen made him a believing member of our party, not another novice I would have to start from scratch with.  It was a big relief that he would stay on.

I also couldn’t help but inquire of Janet that she had been taking all of these discoveries very well for someone who had not experienced any of these bizarre events.  She seemed always disinterested when I had made mention of them previously, yet now that Carter was also telling of the same things, she seemed to realise that what we were telling her was in fact real, yet she still seemed relatively calm, barely any fear or any emotion that I would expect from hearing of the wild and outlandish claims we were making.  Something I would have to keep an eye on.

At the conclusion of our analysis of the events that had transpired Janet asked us to think about where we would be heading next, she explained that her father’s work, although mostly completed on the domestic front, still required attention across the continents.  Something she wanted to see done.
We were to meet with her tomorrow and discuss our future travel arrangements.
